New Computer Parts

New computer parts arrived earlier today that will enable me to transition the last single core desktop computer at home to a dual core one. The old Athlon64 3000+ and 512MB RAM is really getting long in the tooth. Since it’s just a computer for the parents, it’s nothing fancy – here’s what I ordered.

Intel Core 2 Duo E4300 1.8GHz
Biostar TForce 965PT motherboard
2x 1GB Crucial PC-5300
Antec NSK6500 case with 430W power supply

Joining that will be an existing nvidia GeForce 7950GT video card and a 200GB hard drive. It’ll be hooked up to the HTPC. The Athlon64 X2 3800+ computer that’s serving the HTPC purpose currently will transition into the web browsing/email machine.

Of course I couldn’t let the opportunity pass me by so I also ordered a few things for myself.

2x Yate Loon 120mm fans (to replace some less than quiet fans in my personal desktop)
13-in-1 card reader
Coolermaster X Craft eSATA enclosure
500GB Seagate 7200.10 SATA

I was also going to order a Tuniq Tower 120 or a Thermalright Ultra 120, but DirectCanada was out of stock on both, unfortunately. Those high end heatsinks are hard to come by. I can’t wait to put it all together this upcoming long weekend. TGIF anyone?
