My Blogging Goal

I’ve been doing some deep thinking about my goal with blogging in general over the past few days. It brought back memories when I was still noobing it on Blogger, ending all my posts with ‘Charlie.’ I started that blog as a daily journal of sorts, voicing my daily thoughts and activities. That in itself will be unbelievably valuable as I grow; it’s not often you get such a vivid view into your own memories.

Thankfully I’m growing not only in age but also in maturity (fart jokes still get me every time though) and I’m developing more opinions on the world surrounding me. It’s time my blog started reflecting this fact; it’s time for me to branch out.

Don’t get me wrong, I participate quite a lot in discussions around the net. I’m an active member at several technology forums, not to mention the gaming communities I’m a part of. However those are through hobbies, hobbies that come and go. It’s time to join a network of people focused on everyday opinions.

That’s one of the basic facts about blogs; they are about connecting. Why else would there be comments and trackbacks? It’s also something I have not been doing. I’ve dug this blog and my thoughts into a secluded corner somewhere on the internet. And that’s been the case until I started really reading the 9rules blog a couple days ago.

I realized that I want to be a part of the blogging community. Being an outsider and writing can be nice for most, but I want interaction. I want to have discussions. Most of all, it’s something that provides me with that extra bit of incentive to write better content.

I’ve read 9rules member sites and I remember staring in awe at the leafy logo of 9rules thinking, ‘wow, I wish I could be a part of that someday’. For one reason or another, I dismissed the notion of even attempting to join the network up until now. Fortunately, or unfortunately depending on how you look at it, the latest 9rules application has already come and gone. I say fortunately because because I don’t think I or this blog is ready. However, it does give me something to work towards.

I’ve got a lot of revamping to do in preparation and I’ve started to create a well-defined plan to achieve my goal. See you, 9rules, next application round.
