Well, here I am at about 2AM just about ready to go to bed. I decided that this blog deserved an update before I fall unconscious. In fact, I may even fall asleep while writing this, who knows?
Well the reason I’m even up at this hour is because I was keeping a couple friends company here. We decided to do a midnight food run, which eventually turned into an hour and a half of sitting around and chatting. The school is still so alive, even at this hour. Tis the life of university during exam time. It’s actually quite exciting if you take out the exams part. And since I’m exactly in that situation, it’s pretty fun. 🙂
I was also just browsing the University of Waterloo web site earlier. One bulletin on the front page caught my eye: Green roofs figure in new buildings. If you know anything about the university, you’ll know that we’re actually expanding quite quickly here. One of the more prominent things that will be going up in the next couple years is the new Quantum-Nano Centre. This will house the facilities for the new Nanotech Engineering program as well as research into quantum computing. Interesting eh? It’s also going to rival the Davis Centre, which is huge, in size (for those of you who don’t know the university, which will be most of you, the Davis Centre is over 300,000 square feet) at around 250,000 square feet. The official construction budget of $70 million is not going to be enough. It’s going in the area right between MC, Bio II and the SLC. For you UWaterloo students, you’ll probably realize that’s not that much room for a 250K square foot building and you’d be right. It sounds like it’s going to basically cover up that ENTIRE green area, leaving little to nothing left. They’re going to run out of space so soon on the main campus. They should just pave everything over and get it over with. Oh but it’s going to be so high tech. I can hardly wait for it to be built and I’m not even in the program…
Well, that about wraps things up for this morning. I plan on starting my work report this weekend. Oh, my request for extension for a PDEng resubmission was never even looked at so I’m going to assume by the lack of communications, they’ve accepted my request. 😛 Ahhh, have to do my taxes too. This is shaping up to be a great weekend… At least it’ll be better than those writing exams! 😀
