Well, I’ve been taking long, hard looks at a bunch of templates and picking out features of each that I like. I think I’ve just about compiled a list of ideas that I want to incorporate in my new template. So here’s a look at each of the things I’m looking to implement.
Wuhan: One of the main things I like about this theme is the rounded corners. While I probably won’t use as much rounding, I’m going to dissect the CSS to see how it’s done.
Next, I’ve got this Desert Theme’s calendar in target. I like the styling idea. I’ve done a bit of styling work with calendars recently, but I couldn’t get it looking right. So I’ll be taking a long hard look at the CSS for this theme’s calendar.
Finally, I’m really liking the Rin theme overall. It’s very clean and relaxed. I think implementing Neuron’s sidebar idea with Rin’s sidebar will be very nice. The sidebar headers in Rin is very smooth and classy.
I also like the footer. The theme overall is very nice, in my opinion. I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if my theme resembles the Rin theme.
At this point, I’ve got a lot of the hard stuff out of the way. Believe it or not, I think getting your ideas down for a template is possibly the hardest part of creating a theme. If anyone has any other suggestions for certain features or additions, feel free to comment. But at this point, I think I’m ready to start coding the theme.
