I was pretty excited about the Newegg Canada launch, hoping for great shipping rates and a wide selection of products at low prices. Instead, what we get is expensive UPS shipping from their warehouse in the United States and above average pricing on products overall. I’m pretty disappointed. I’ll be back to shopping at NCIX/DirectCanada for the time being, as plenty of others will be doing as well. Come on Newegg… That’s no way to carve out a market for yourself.
I think it depends on what you get from the site. Some of the items still come out to be much cheaper than NCIX/TD/etc. after shipping and tax
Try living in Bermuda… Not only does everything have to be shipped in, there is a 25% duty charge on everything.
Ah, but at least you get perpetual good weather?
It’s been rainy for the past week here in Toronto.
Scott – You’re absolutely right. There are a few gems, here and there. A Panasonic TZ5 or TZ4 is about $100 cheaper than other places in Canada. Unfortunately, the grand opening ‘promotions’ were terrible, which was a bit disappointing. I was hoping for some cheap computer hardware.

Some RFD users went to Newegg’s forums and posted their dissatisfaction with Newegg’s service in Canada. Take a look at Tracer76′s comments; his lack of knowledge in Cross-Border trade as well as the English language is mindblowing.
Haha, the RFD guys certainly weren’t too pleased going in there, but the Newegg forums users didn’t put up much of a polite front either. I was a bit appalled at what the moderators were saying. I’d think they would at least be impartial to the discussion.
I think one of the biggest issues aside from pricing is that RMAs go down to California, at the buyer’s expense. It’s one thing to ship something out to Vancouver, it’s completely different to ship cross border. What a nightmare.
