All things being equal the mac bok air is great. But because all things are not equal when buying a laptop I decided against the macbook air. Due primarily to the price. I would go for price over style any day of the week.

I was never big on technology and gadgets, I used the same old computer for years. I would say that it doesnt need to be replaced if it is not broken. But how can someone resist a macbook air. It is trully amazing. The only detering factor I could see is the cost, and the cost of parts. I know for a fact that batteries on laptops dont really last a lifetime...

Without the removable battery, it kind of sounds like the ipod set up. Just wondering, with the cost, what you do when the battery dies...right now everyone just gets a new ipod, but a macbook can get costly...

Slow? How does this machine equate slowness? It's a stupid Merom chip running at 1.6. How is that slow? If they used something like an old school, badass, Celeron processor then I'd agree. Look at what the chip is, not just it's clock speed.

In any event, remember that RAM I told you about? Yeah. I have to return it because I forgot that, while my MacBook maxes out at 2GB, it has to be in the configuration of 1GB in each slot. Bad news bears, if I say so myself.

I think the 13.3" screen is better than the other ultraportables out there because if you think about the market for them, the majority are going to be business people and looking at excel charts or next meetings powerpoint on 13.3" is going to feel a lot better on the eyes than on something much smaller.

As for the battery, I think it's important to note that they say 5 hours with wireless productivity. For their other products they just say "up to 6 hours" or something like that, but that's with everything turned off. Their wording of the Air's battery makes m think that if you were to turn everything off, you'd be in the range of 7-8 hours. Albeit, the battery is probably note the strongest in comparison to other ultraportables because it has such a big screen to power and the battery can only pack so much power in it's super thin form factor.

Yeah, it's missing a lot of things. A lot of things that you think Apple may have dropped the bomb on for not including. But you have to think about the market they were going for, and the people who are more adept at buying something like the MBA are probably not going to miss the things it lacks.
