[...] thing is, the above isn’t a re-design at all. It’s the Zune software version 2.0. So what happened? As best I can tell, it’s a matter of feature creep without UI re-design. [...]

While the rest of the Zune software is great, and the player itself is outstanding, the syncing function is downright annoying. While it does automatically sync whenever you add content to your collection, video support is next to none. I converted 10 or so videos into WMV format, and it didn't even recognize it.

The scrolling function in the main collection is also a bit screwy, as if it were made from flash. I really hope they update it well and fix these massive bugs. They really have something good here

Microsoft Zune rocks. Way better (IMHO) than an iPod.

My thoughts exactly on this topic. Microsoft's made huge strides in making the whole user experience much more enjoyable. The Now Playing visualization would be pretty sweet to run on a large monitor and have that front and centre at a party. Too bad they didn't have a little bit more functionality with it.

After using the Zune player, I hate using iTunes and have simply boycotted it (even though I have an iPod that hasn't been updated in ages). I dislike the fact that it's such a memory hog, and frankly, it looks like a dated, boring spreadsheet compared to Zune's skinnable, colourful, beautiful interface.
